Pallet Manufacturing
Custom and standard pallet manufacturing from new lumber. Producing pallets to exact specifications for any industry, from GMA standard 48x40 to custom sizes for specialized applications.
What Is Pallet Manufacturing?
Pallet manufacturing is the process of building new pallets from raw lumber. Manufacturers take rough-sawn or surfaced lumber, cut it to precise dimensions, and assemble it into pallets using pneumatic nailing equipment or automated assembly lines. Modern pallet manufacturing facilities can produce thousands of pallets per day, with high-speed lines capable of assembling a pallet every 15-30 seconds.
Manufacturing Process
The manufacturing process begins with lumber procurement. Most pallet manufacturers source softwood lumber (southern yellow pine, spruce-pine-fir) for standard applications, while hardwood (oak, maple) is used for heavy-duty pallets. The lumber is inspected for defects, cut to length, and fed into assembly jigs where deck boards are nailed to stringers or blocks.
Quality Standards
Quality pallet manufacturing follows established standards including NWPCA grading guidelines, ASTM D1185 for pallet testing, and ISO 6780 for international size standards. Manufacturers serving export markets must also maintain ISPM-15 certification with approved heat treatment facilities.
